Laurent was born in Brive France, and raised in Coulommiers, France.
He began his training as a jeweler when he was 15 years old apprenticing for Guy Lemorvan.
Upon graduating from high school, Laurent was accepted as an apprentice for jewelry master Andre Garabedian, and moved to Paris to begin his program.
After 3 more years of training at the jewelry school and with Master Garabedian, Laurent began his professional career as a young model maker at Garabedian’s, a well known model maker for all the prestigious Parisian jewelry houses.
Four years later, Laurent was accepted as a model maker by the renowned Parisian atelier, Dupeguy, where he produced work for jewelry houses such as Cartier, Chaumet, Arfan, Rolex and other well known designers.
Laurent then launched his own business as a freelance designer/model maker in 1987, and continued to produce beautiful pieces for jewelry houses at the Place Vendome, including Boucheron, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, to name a few.
Laurent moved to Portland in 1991 and began working as a master jeweler and designer for the well respected Margulis jewelers, where he designed unique and beautiful lines for the company, as well as high end custom pieces for private clients.
In 2000, Laurent left Margulis to start his own business, and Couture Jewelers was born. Laurent brings with him over 38 years experience in the design, creation and fabrication of unique and one of a kind custom of jewelry for his clients.
